Agent Spotlight on Luis Silva, an
associate with the MoranGroup at Gibson Sotheby’s
International Realty in Boston,
Massachusetts.
What did you do before real estate and how did you get
started in the business?
Before I worked in real estate, I worked for a landscaping and
masonry company. I was able to work on all kinds of propertiesfrom
fixer uppers to million dollar homes and everything in between. I
loved being able to help on the start of a fixer upper and then see
the finished project. This job has truly helped me see how much of
a difference a little curb appeal can make.
What is something your clients find comfort in that
makes them turn to you for their real estate needs?
My clients find my honesty to be most comforting. If we see a
house that they love, but it is not worth the asking price,
I’ll let them know. I’m never in a rush to make a sale. It
has to be what works for my clients, and if I wouldn’t put in
the offer for myself, I make sure they know that.
What are some of your favorite local hobbies, activities
or organizations that you participate in?
I love going out to eat and supporting small locally-owned
businesses probably because my own family owns two restaurants in
my hometown of Woburn!
What do you love most about where you live and
work?
What I love most about my hometown is the sense of community.
Anyone you run into most likely knows your family or your friends.
It is the type of community where everyone works hard and is
willing to help out their neighbor. It is also a short drive down
Route 93 to Boston, another great place to be as there is always a
new project in the works. It’s amazing to think how we are just
a fraction of the size of larger cities like New York or LA, but
our businesses, colleges, and real estate developments all compete
with them. Boston is small but mighty, and can’t ever be
underestimated.
What are three sources of joy in your week?
- My fiance. We’ve been
together for six years now and are lucky enough to be getting
married in September. - My second source of joy, and
sometimes frustration (as I’m just learning), is playing golf.
I started over the winter and there have definitely been some ups
and downs! - My great friend group.
I’ve had some of the same friends for almost twenty years and
we still have just as much fun as we did back then.
