Government Center Garage Project

It is no secret that the construction industry in
Boston is alive and well. Well, as the former Mayor Thomas M.
Meninos long-standing tenure eventually came to a close, there were
some incredibly significant proposals for various building projects
that were in the pipeline. While we have reported about a great
deal of these, many have yet to make headlines, until now.

The Boston Redevelopment Authority has just announced
the approval of a grand scheme of initiatives totalling a
staggering $2.3 Billion to all be built in the very near future
here in the Hub. Some of these projects are highlighted below,
while others have been reported on in the past. For extensive
information regarding each of these developments below, it is
advised that you refer to the link at the base of this post to read
more about them:

  • 2.9 million square feet of redeveloped space for the
Government Center Garage costing upwards of $2.2 Billion.

  • The Bowdoin Street Health Center in Dorchester, a $4
    Million expansion project.

  • A $9 Million residential development at 50 Symphony
    Road in The Fenway.

  • The $20 Million Forecaster Building renovation in the
Bulfinch Triangle at 121-127 Portland Street that will include
condominiums and retail space, as well as an additional four
    stories.

  • $8 Million to go towards a mixed-use project at 11
Dorchester Street adding residential units and restaurant space,
while replacing the existing automotive repair and storage
    business.

  • 2 South Boston projects
approved for the same team of developers; one initiative being a
$12.5 Million renovation of a church to be known as The Residences
at St. Augustine. The second endeavor will cost $12 Million and
will be adjacent to the previously mentioned project. This next one
will also be a spectacular condominium building once the existing
    vacant school building is removed.
