November Agent Spotlight: Amanda De Oliveira

Amanda Marie De Oliveira

Since beginning her real estate career,
Amanda Marie De Oliveira
has been a trailblazer – in the
industry, in her community, and on some of the tallest peaks in New
England. Read on to learn more about Amanda, how she got her start
in real estate and how she continues to make waves on Cape
Cod.

What did
you do before real estate and how did you get started in the
business?

I was a police dispatcher and matron for female prisoners for
just about ten years, from a very early age until my mid twenties.
I worked for a few local police departments dispatching, answering
911 calls, teaching a class for the Citizens Police Academy on
Emergency Telecommunications and training new officers and
dispatchers on the desk. I bought my first home at a young age and
saw all of the grit that was needed on the side of my broker to
assist me in a purchase. After bringing a spreadsheet, notebook,
and pros & cons list to every home we viewed, she offered me a
job. I attended the Cape Realty School, and after passing the state
and national exam, I started working real estate during the day and
performed my dispatching job at night. It was exhausting doing both
for the first three years of my real estate career!

What is
something your clients find comfort in that makes them turn to you
for their real estate needs?

I have received compliments on my responsiveness, my
volunteer efforts outside of work hours, and my no-nonsense honest
approach. I tell all of my clients at each listing appointment or
buyer’s meeting that I will be honest with them and put in
the hard work, but I expect the same from them in return. I fully
believe that kindness can fix everything and I can negotiate
respectfully but firmly on behalf of my clients with that approach.
I make that clear from the start and even have it printed in my
business philosophy for my agent brochure.

What are
some of your favorite local hobbies, activities or organizations
that you participate in?

I absolutely love to read. I have an at-home yoga
practice but I also enjoy going to classes at Power Yoga of Cape
Cod in East Harwich. In the last few years, I have really gotten
into hiking the White Mountains in NH. My boyfriend and I are
currently trying to hike all of the four thousand footers in the
White Mountains to become a member of the AMC and it’s really
difficult and can be dangerous, but we have so much fun!

What do
you love most about where you live and work?

I love knowing the “local” spots. I love the life
that comes in the summer with people, shops and restaurants being
open and access to the beach almost anywhere you go. In the winter,
trails are less crowded, and beaches can be walked without
disturbing anyone. People really get into the Christmas spirit in
my neighborhood, with their lights and outdoor decorations in
December. Each season brings something new to enjoy.

Favorite
spots in Orleans/Cape Cod?

The extended trail for the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp
Trail is one of my favorite spots in Wellfleet. I also love The
Pearl restaurant and Indian Neck Beach. My boyfriend and I have a
small cottage in Wellfleet and I spend most of my summer up there
as it’s just north of my office. It’s our favorite town
on the Cape and a quick 10 minute ride to Provincetown.

What are
three sources of joy in your week?

 1) Time with my family…whether that be coffee with my
dad, his wife and my baby sister, my daily phone calls into work
with my Mom, or dinner at home with my boyfriend and his two
incredible adult children whom I adore.

2) Monday afternoons with the girls at WE CAN. I spend every
Monday there, put my phone on vibrate and work with women in need
in our community and it gives me such a purpose that I can’t
put it to words.

3) Friday afternoons at the office. On Friday
afternoons/evenings it is usually quiet in the Orleans office. It
gives me a chance to send out weekly recaps to all of my active
clients, decompress from the current week, plan my social media
schedule for the next and then I get to head home to my two little
furry kitties who anxiously wait for the week to be over!
