Diane:
What would be your advice for women who are building
their careers?
Listen and Learn. We all started somewhere in our careers, most
likely in an entry level position. Be a sponge! Listen to
everything, be aware of how people talk on the phone, how they
schedule their day, how they handle email, what they do on their
downtime. Find someone whose work ethic you admire and emulate
their actions. It may not come naturally at first, but the more
confident and comfortable you feel, you will be noticed, and find
yourself being more a part of the conversation, and not always just
a listener.
What is your personal mantra? There are
two sides to every story. I truly believe that in any situation,
business or personal, its vital to keep in mind that there is
always someone elses interpretation of what is happening. Whether
it be a conflict, misunderstanding, or a difference of opinion, it
is always important to listen and consider the other side. Ive
learned from experience not to make a decision until I have had the
opportunity to hear the other side, and to always consider the
effect my decision will have on all of those involved.
