
Summer has officially arrived and we want to make sure you enjoy
the best of what the season and the South Shore has to offer. As
part of our new #SummerBucketList tradition, weve rounded up the
top spots, activities, excursions, and events on Bostons South
Shore for you and your family. From outdoor movies at the Hingham
Shipyard to a day of biking on a beach cruiser around Cohasset,
your kids will soon dub 2019 as the best summer ever!
Ride the historic Paragon Carousel in
Hull, the last remaining attraction from the Paragon Amusement
Park on Nantasket Beach. Visit the carousel during Friday morning
story
time and meet and greet one of your favorite Disney
characters.
Cool off at the 5,000-square-foot
splash pad at Nelson Park in historic Plymouth. Pack a
lunch and enjoy the kid friendly, small sandy beach.
Spend the day exploring the historic Plimoth Plantation or enjoy a
summers evening of stories on one of their living history
sites.

Eat cotton candy and take your bets with the candy man at
the Marshfield
Fair, a quintessential American Country fair since
1867. Special events include the Demolition Derby, a Bluegrass
Festival, and unlimited amusement park rides on Childrens Day.

Search for kindness rocks left by neighbors and visitors
at the Scituate
Lighthouse. You may just happen upon a traditional
cairn, too.
Celebrate Scituate at
Scituate Heritage Days, the towns premier summer
event that features two days of concerts, food trucks, artisan
shows, kiddie amusement rides, and more. Downtown Scituate opens
its doors and closes down its streets as the community comes to
party.
Visit Open Barn Day at
Weir River Farm, a 75-acre picturesque working farm in
Hingham. Get up close with the horses, brush a goat, pet a chicken,
make a barnyard craft, and pick up farm fresh eggs. Barndoors open
every Saturday from 10:00AM-3:00PM.

4th Road Race, a 61-year
old tradition. Exercise as a family and be swept away by the
contagious community spirit.

Run barefoot at the Humarock Fourth of July Races and
compete in the old-school three-legged race, potato sack race, and
highly-charged, but light-hearted competition of tug of war. Gather
at the Humarock Civic Association post-race for free Hoodsie Ice
Cream Cups.
Take in an Outdoor
Movie and Live Music as part of the summer series at
the Hingham Shipyard.
Pack a blanket and appetizers and enjoy the big screen under the
stars.
Stop by Hornstra
Dairy Farm, the last working dairy farm in
Massachusetts, and indulge in a homemade ice cream cone or take a
tour of the facility and watch the cows walk the grounds.
Attend the theater at
the South Shore Music Circus for some kid-friendly shows
like Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White. Little ones
will love the colorful, old-school music tent and relaxed setting
where every seat is within fifty feet of the stage.

Grab fried clams and ice cream at Erichs Clam
Shack, a waterfront restaurant at Roht Marine. The
patio sits directly on the water, as if suspended, providing
glorious water and sunset views.
Stop by the
Farmers Market in Marshfield on Friday afternoons and
shop local produce and other groceries, including pasture-raised
animal products, delicious baked foods, and a wide array of farm
and home goods.The market offers family-friendly live music, free
parking and admission, and at least one complimentary childrens
activity.
Rent a bike from Outside
In in Cohasset Village. The 7 speed beach cruisers are
perfect for a day exploring the town.
Take
a surf lesson in Hull, where lessons cater even to
beginners and kids are introduced to the thrill of surfing.
Hit balls at Granite Links as the sun sets at one of the
few lighted driving ranges near Boston. Later, grab a burger and
fries at the casual, kid-friendly patio with views of Boston and
the expansive golf course.
Celebrate
music and the arts the Levitate Festival, a premier
grassroots festival in Marshfield which takes place over the course
of three days. Levitate, a
surf and skate brand, highlights the importance of teaching
children to be creative, musical, artistic, and free-thinking by
offering various kid-friendly activities.
Ride the Go Carts or go mini-golfing at Starland Fun Park.
Spend a few hours at the largest sports facility in New England, or
buy a day pass and enjoy an afternoon of unlimited go karting, mini
golf, laser tag, and more!
