Gibson Sotheby’s International
Realty participated as sponsors of the night out to the October
24th performance
Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty recently had the
remarkable opportunity to help The Marilyn Rodman
Theatre for Kids programbuy outthe Boston Opera House,
sending more than 2,000 Greater Boston area youth to the
performance of Hamilton. This was the only buyout to date
of the performances entire national tour.
The Marilyn Rodman Theatre for Kids endeavorsto broaden the
horizons of at-risk youth and foster a lifelong appreciation of
performing arts by exposing kids to live, professional theatre.
“Theatre for Kids distributes tickets to at-risk kids through a
trusted pool of youth organizations, as well as public and private
schools,” Joyce Kulhawik, Honorary Chairwoman of the program, has
stated.”Each group receives an agreed upon number of tickets to
bring kids they serve who would otherwise not have the opportunity
to attend a show. In addition to kids who do not have the economic
means to attend, tickets are shared with kids with cognitive and
behavioral challenges that make it difficult for them to attend a
show with a ‘typical’ audience. Marilyn believed every kid should
have access to musical theatre.”
After the performance, several hundred of the youth remainedin
the theatre for aspecialQ&A session with six members of the
cast!
Since the programs inception in 2001, over 70,000 youthhave
experienced live productions, including TheWizard of
Oz, Annie, Wicked, and The Lion
King.
