A pair of tandem parking spots in
the Back Bay are set to be auctioned off this
Thursday

As if Boston real estate prices and the overall
spectacular growth the industry has seen as of late was not enough
of an attention grabbing force, then this indeed will be. While not
an apartment, condominium, future development, or commercial space,
two tandem spots are to be auctioned off this week starting at a
minimum acceptable bid of $250,000.

In a wonderful Back Bay location and
at the rear of 132 Commonwealth Avenue, these spots are accessible
via Clarendon and Dartmouth Streets. A $20,000 deposit will be
required for any hopeful purchaser by this Thursday, the 7th of
November at 2PM with the entire balance due within thirty days of
purchase. The winning bidder will also be responsible for paying
the auctioneering fee which equates to 10% of the eventual
purchased price.

With the market performing as well as it is, and given
the scarcity of parking spaces in protected areas as such, it is no
surprise at the prices some of these slabs of concrete are
demanding. In fact, other recent notable sales of parking spaces
within Boston have included the following:

  • 298 Commonwealth Ave., which sold for $560,000 in June
    2103.

  • 195 Beacon St., which sold for $195,000 in April
    2013.

  • 132 Commonwealth Ave., which saw two parking spaces
sell for $200,000 in August 2012.

  • 286 Marlborough St., a single space that sold for
    $250,000 in December 2012.

  • 276 Marlborough St., which saw two parking spaces sell
    for $151,000 in January 2011.

  • 37 Brimmer St., a single parking space that sold for
    $275,000 in April 2011.

  • 220 Boylston St., a spot at the Four Seasons sold for
    $185,000 in July 2011.

  • 135 Marlborough St., a single space, sold in December
    2011 for $175,000.

  • 48 Commonwealth Ave., a single space that sold for
    $300,000 in 2009.
