When you think of the word Fenway in Boston most people
immediately think about our 100 year old ballpark, the most beloved
in the United States of America. Some may think about this area as
a place to grab a bite to eat, have a nice night out or even attend
a concert at the House of Blues. However, this district of our city
is soon going to be transformed into much more of a neighborhood
atmosphere than it already is, attracting residents from all
over.

John Rosenthal soon looks to begin construction on a $450
Million project to be known as Fenway Center. This massive
undertaking will ultimately see 1.3 Million square feet of new
retail, apartment and office spaces come to the locations of
Brookline and Beacon Streets as well as along and over the
Massachusetts Turnpike. Already there has been a groundbreaking on
the Yawkey Way Commuter Rail Station, a $14.9 Million project and
this will provide a much needed upgrade and expansion in order to
meet this areas future demand.

Fenway Center will have a 27-story building that will be for mix
use with retail and office spaces and over 550 residential
apartments. Furthermore, to satisfy the added residents and
citizens working in and around Fenway Center, 1,290 parking spaces
will also grace the location.

It was not long ago when we reported that there are many more
ideas and future aspirations for The Fenway. Some of the more
notable ones which were blogged about were the new Marriott Hotel to
be built in The Fenway, nine projects in ten
years in this area to be built by Boston University
, and
finally, the Boston Conservatory
purchasing the $5.1 Million Fenway Park facing warehouse
with
plans to develop at 132 Ipswich Street. The future of The Fenway
will truly be a transformative one that we can all look forward to.
It is highly encouraged that you look to the link at the base of
this blog for a slide show depicting the renderings of the Fenway
Center development.
